Val Rutt is a writer and teacher. She lives in North London with her family and a spaniel called Dave. Fearless, our hero in the Heartstone books (shown here en route to a country music gig), is a very gifted and special golden retriever. He and Dave correspond with each other from time to time. We have a copy of Dave's very first letter. Being dogs they're generally very secretive about their unusual abilities but (Shh!) there's a secret area on this site which they don't know we can enter.

Val was the first Writer In Residence at the inspiring Roald Dahl Museum where she was engaged to provide helpful advice both for children and adults.

School Visits:
Val is available for school visits to talk in assembly, run writing workshops or for storytelling sessions. She can also link a creative writing activity to a specific topic or theme as required.
