When everything is going well writing is fun, but there are times when it doesn’t go well and it is hard to do. It can get lonely, you have to spend a lot of time by yourself and if it is a slow day it can be frustrating.

Every so often I spend a few hours with my friend Ginny Clee and we write a song together. Actually Ginny writes the song while I say things like ‘Ooh how about this?!’ and suggest some lyrics or an alternative word here and there. We have fun, we laugh ourselves silly but eventually it gets serious. Ginny gets a very focused and wide-eyed expression on her face and I know she’s getting somewhere.

The last time we did this Gin wanted to write a song that was especially for someone who had been hurt. She wanted a song that said ‘we are sorry that you were hurt and we all care about you’.
